Following a grant at an acting convention, she enrolled in lessons within Young Actor's Space. In the WB 7th Heaven, Mary Camden was the character. It was an enormous success with this character, however she felt that portraying her as a "good girl" would restrict her ability to act. In an attempt to change the perception, she donned a partially-clothed look on the cover in Gear magazine. Jessica's actions caused quite a bit of controversy for her followers. Jessica resigned from the television series 7th Heaven in season six. In the movie Ulee's Gold, she gained instant recognition for her excellent acting. The film even awarded her the title of award for the Best Young Supporting Actress in the movie. Summer Catch is a great example of her talent. Her movie Rules of Attraction did not get much attention despite her outstanding performance. In the following years, audiences were drawn to her performance of The Texas Chainshaw Massacre. Also, she has acted in suspense films, and has proved herself as a serious actor.
